    FAREWELL TO CHRISTINA CLARK!

Christina is moving from Sequim to start a new adventure with her husband and sons - while we wish them the very best, we will miss them.  We have enjoyed having her in the club and helping to get it started.  SHe is the one responsible for naming it "Our Garden Society" versus "Our Garden CLub".  Much catchier don't you think!  Great job Christina.

Thank you for you efforts in getting our club started and for your labor in Nila's yard. You were pretty handy with those clippers!... An update on that - there are LOADS of little buds on those rhododendrons that were clipped down to the wood.  There will be lots of leaves, and hopefully some blooms by next year! PHEW!  And your son was very helpful as well.  He made many trips to the house to bring water and help set up the luncheon table.  Such and cutie!

BE sure to stay in touch with us here on our blogspot and share your gardening efforts once you start them in your new home.  We are sure you will be busy unpacking and setting up your new home before you don the gloves.    But when you get stressed, put them on and start scratching in the dirt!!
Thanks for all you contributed!  and don't forget about our beautiful Sequim and our lavender fields we are so known for!  Hope you take some lavender with you!

Fellow Gardeners - Summer Meetings

After discussing the Gardening Club meetings with a number of sisters it has been decided that we will suspend meetings during the busy summer months and start them up again on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month.

Our first meeting in September will most likely be an evening meeting that we can bring friends and spouses to (as we have had some requests for them to join us)  for a "Q & A  Session" with Ed Bourassa.  We will focus on how to prepare your yard, garden, flowers, shrubs, etc for fall and winter.

Ed Bourassa shared that in Sunset Magazine there is a two page article each month on "what to do this month" in the pacific northwest regarding your garden.  There are some very helpful tips in there.  I have a great number of older issues and so will look them up and post some helpful information according to that month.  Hopefully, if any of you or Ed has the current issues, you will also share the information with us ...and of course we will give the credit to Sunset Magazine as we should.

We wish you all green thumbs this summer and also hope you have time to sit back and enjoy your hard labors in your wonderful gardens.

Remember, share your photos of your plants, yards, gardens and produce you have grown.  We would love to see them.

Receiving my yard of premium topsoil...I thin wheelbarrowed it to the side yard and started planting my perennials and a few annuals to fill in the space until they grow.  Enjoying the work this year, hope to sit back and relax and enjoy this years efforts, next year!

I must find a BEFORE and AFTER photo of my little side yard. But that project has now extended itself.  I will find a few pics and share what I am doing next!
How about you? what have you done in your Garden/Yard this year?
How have you enjoyed your Garden/Yard this Year?
Share your photos and stories with us!

Hi fellow green thumbers!!  Well, we postponed the day trip to Poulsbo to visit the nursery as a number of you wanted to go but the date simply did not work out.  We are now tentatively planning to do this in September.  Which by the way, they have short seminars during the fall and winter months that we could join in on.  So, keep that in the back of your mind and calendar for possibly September!

SUCCESSFUL WORK PROJECT

Garden Society
Work Project at Nila's BackYard

A big thank you to all those who turned out to help Nila get her annuals planted in the flower boxes and to "prune" her Rhododendrons.  Your hard work and fun company was enjoyed!

Thanks Barbara for your work on the window boxes.

We are sure they will be jam packed with blooms soon.

And a big thanks to Denise, Joyce, Cindy, Karen, Christina and Carole for their work pruning and shaping shrubs and bushes and especially Rhodys.  What a hard working crew.

and then....Ed showed up....and we worked even harder.  And he taught us more. We pruned and shaped the shrubs so that they will grow and fill in and look better than ever.

Thanks to everyone who helped today, including Patrick.
Relaxing for a bit after lunch was even better.

and then we had this little visitor who would have liked to be invited to our table..

We need to name him....anyone have any ideas?

and then we cleaned everything up....and await growth and blooms...next year.

Here are the photos of the end result for today - taken as suggested so that we can compare them next year.

Thanks everyone....next event......the trip to Poulsbo to tour the Valley Nursery.

Event # 5 -  Green Thumbing Opportunity at Nila's house

                         TUESDAY,  JUNE 9th   11 am - Gardening
12 pm - Brief Lunch Meeting

Ok everyone, after having had to postpone, those who are available to help out are invited to Nila's yard on Tuesday, June 9th.  We won't be doing quite as much pruning as originally planned as some of the Rhododendrons are still in bloom! Yay!

However, we have lots of annuals, petunias, to plant in the flower boxes, a few rhodies to prune lightly, and some herb seedlings to plant.  Some of these can be done sitting down at the outdoor table.

We will be gardening from 11 am to noon  We will then have a light lunch of sandwiches and salad while having a lunch meeting.  We will be discussing any upcoming projects, topics we would like to be educated on, and any other ideas.

Hope to see as many of you there as can make it on the short notice.

Let's garden, chat and enjoy this beautiful Sequim Sunshine!

After 9 months and 50,000 shots (only using 5,000 for the final video), 'DaviddelosSan' completed this absolutely stunning blooming flower timelapse. Here's a list of the flowers included: Lillium, hibiscus, carnations, orchids, dandelions, lilies, daisies, alstroemeria, peonies and nigella damask. Check out 'DaviddelosSan' for more!
